Nathan Nothman Oral History Description An account of the resource An interview with Nathan Nothman, a Holocaust survivor, conducted by Donna Miller. Nathan Nothman was born on July 15, 1925 in Kraków, Poland. Following the German invasion of Poland, Nathan, his parents, and his three brothers and sister were forced to move into the Kraków ghetto. Nathan and his father worked for the Nazis as plumbers and were allowed to leave the ghetto for work until his father was sent to Auschwitz and killed. In 1943 when the ghetto was liquidated, Nathan was sent to the Plaszów concentration camp and then to Gross-Rosen where he was assigned to a work detail on the Steinburg. He was then sent to Flossenburg to work on the railroads in 1945. Nathan and his friend escaped during a death march and walked to Laufen where he was rescued by the American Army. After some time in the DP camp at Laufen, he was transferred to the Ainring DP camp where he met and married his wife.
